Field Hockey Blanks W&J in Season Finale
10/25/2001

FROSTBURG, MD — Senior Katie Harrington (Prince Frederick, Md./Calvert) scored twice and added an assist, and junior Kim Faust (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) had a goal and two assists as Frostburg State closed out its season with a 7-0 shutout of Washington & Jefferson on Senior Day Thursday afternoon.

Senior Cindy Reese (Westminster, Md./Westminster), who along with Harrington was playing in her final collegiate game, recorded a goal and an assist.

The Bobcats (7-9), who scored all seven of their goals in the first half, got on the board less then five minutes into the contest when Faust fed junior Heather Kanowicz (Mechanicsville, Md./Leonardtown) for a 1-0 lead.

Harrington then found the net with an assist from Faust at the 28:02 mark, and Harrington returned the favor just 55 seconds later, sending a pass that Faust banged in for her 18th goal of the year.

Reese assisted on freshman Becca Huber's (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) first career goal with 21:32 left in the first half before notching an unassisted tally at the 14:47 mark.

Freshman Kimmy Dean (Hampstead, Md./Hereford) scored her first career goal with an assist from Huber at 12:39, and Harrington closed out the scoring with an unassisted marker with just 1:06 left in the half.

Sophomore Jessica Moore (Bowie, Md./Culpeper (Va.)) and freshman Chelsea Smith (Frederick, Md./Linganore) each made one save for the Bobcats, who held an 18-3 advantage in shots and an 8-4 edge in penalty corners.

Sophomore Jenna Hungerman made eight saves for Washington & Jefferson, which fell to 1-8.
