— Frostburg State’s field hockey team has won a season-high five consecutive games as it defeated Philadelphia Biblical 2-1 Saturday afternoon. This marks the team’s longest winning streak under fourth-year Head Coach Nicole Bonvouloir.
FSU is now 6-7 and Philadelphia Biblical is 6-8.
The first half was scoreless as neither team could find the net.
In the 54th minute, senior Christina Simon scored the game's first goal for the Crimson Eagles off an assist from sophomore Brittany Sparling.
Freshman Brittany Russell (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) began the scoring for the Bobcats as she deflected a pass from junior Tawni Buck (Port Deposit, Md./Perryville) in the 57th minute.
Sophomore Amanda Griswold (Rockville, Md./Magruder) scored three minutes later off an assist from Heidi Zook (Elverson, Pa./Twin Valley) giving FSU the 2-0 lead.
Junior goalie Kristin Cousin (Edgewater, Md./South River) took the win with six saves.
The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday afternoon as they host Juniata at 4:30.
