BRIDGEWATER, VA —
Freshman Jenni Brygider (Orange County/Locust Grove, Va.)
scored a pair of goals — including the game-winner with 7:34 left in overtime — and assisted on another to lead Frostburg State to a 3-2 win over host Bridgewater Tuesday afternoon.
After battling the Eagles to a scoreless tie at halftime, the Bobcats (5-9) struck first when Brygider fed fellow freshman Amanda Griswold (Magruder/Rockville, Md.) for a goal with 26:54 left in regulation.
Bridgewater (5-6) pulled even just 4:09 later, but FSU went back in front when Brygider scored an unassisted goal with 7:56 remaining.
However, the Bobcat lead lasted just 35 seconds as Bridgewater sent a shot in to force the extra session.
Brygider and Griswold teamed up again for the game-winner to help the Bobcats snap a two-game losing skid.
FSU sophomore goalie Kristin Cousin (South River/Edgewater, Md.) made eight saves to earn the win.
The Bobcats return to action on Saturday when they visit cross-state rival Salisbury, currently 9-1 and ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division III.
