SALEM, VA -
Frostburg State was unable to rally from a four goal deficit and lost to Roanoke 4-2 on Sunday.
Roanoke (5-1) took control of the game when senior Sarah Lundgren scored in the 27th minute off an assist from junior Emily Hearn.
In the 16th minute, sophomore Kelly Lyons tallied a goal to give the Maroons a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, Roanoke went up 3-0 when senior Rachel Flint found the net off an assist from senior Carrie Smith at 31:30.
The Maroons tallied their final goal on the day when freshman Ellen Dinnen found the net in the 20th minute.
FSU managed to get on the board when sophomore Tawni Buck (Perryville/Port Deposit, Md.) scored in the 16th minute off a penalty corner.
The Bobcats notched one more goal when freshman Amanda Griswold (Magruder/Rockville, Md.) found the net off an assist from Buck with 3:37 left to play.
Goalie Kristin Cousin (South River/Edgewater, Md.) had 17 saves on the day, while sophomore Elizabeth Armstrong (Perryville/Port Deposit, Md.) had two defensive saves.
The Maroons tallied 15 shots and five corners and goalie Steph Calabro had one save.
Frostburg State (2-7) returns to action on September 27th when it hosts Christopher Newport at 1:00 p.m.
