— Frostburg State scored eight goals in the first half and never looked back as it defeated Washington & Jefferson, 9-0, in the consolation game of the Muhlenberg Invitational.
The Bobcats (1-1) opened the scoring when senior Kim Dean (Hereford/Hampstead, Md.) scored an unassisted goal just two minutes into the game.
FSU then scored twice in a two-minute span on goals by sophomore Tawni Buck (Perryville/Port Deposit, Md.), her first of three on the day, and junior Becca Huber (Walkersville/Walkersville, Md.) to make the score 3-0 just fifteen minutes into the game.
Freshman Amanda Griswold (Magruder/Rockville, Md.) scored her first career goal in the 27th minute and added another with less than a minute to go before halftime to make the score 8-0.
Senior Sarah Tipsword (McDonough/White Plains, Md.) scored her first career goal in the second half to cap the scoring for FSU.
Sophomore goalie Kristin Cousin (South River/Edgewater, Md.) got the win for the Bobcats, playing the first half of the game.
Frostburg State returns to action on Saturday September 6th when it hosts Elmira at 2:00 p.m.
