— Frostburg State scored three goals in the first half and never looked back as they defeated visiting Randolph-Macon College, 4-0, Saturday afternoon.
Junior Tawni Buck (Port Deposit, Md./Perryville) started the scoring for the Bobcats in the third minute when she blasted a shot past Yellow Jacket goalie Kim Owen.
After 25 minutes of scorless end-to-end action, Buck put the Bobcats up 2-0 off a penalty corner assist from fellow junior Heidi Zook (Elverson, Pa./Twin Valley).
FSU then scored nineteen seconds later when freshman Samantha Riley (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-CC) deflected a pass from sophomore Amanda Griswold (Rockville, Md./Magruder) to give it a commanding 3-0 lead.
Zook then added a second-half goal in the 63rd minute from a penalty corner assist from Riley.
Junior goalie Kristin Cousin (Edgewater, Md./South River) started and played 64:15 minutes getting the win and making eight saves.
“We played a great game today and it is a nice way to start the season,” said Head Coach Nicole Bonvouloir.
Frostburg State returns to action on Thursday when it travels to Washington and Jefferson at 7:00 p.m.
