Field Hockey Snaps Four-Game Losing Streak With Win Over St. Mary's
— Frostburg State scored a goal in the first half and held on to defeat visiting St. Mary's College, 1-0, Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Heidi Zook (Twin Valley/Elverson, Pa.) scored an unassisted goal in the 10th minute of the first half, which was enough for the Bobcats (3-7) as they notched their third win by shutout this season.
FSU was tested late in the game as St. Mary's (3-5) got a penalty stroke with just 3:21 left in the game, but sophomore goalie Kristin Cousin (South River/Edgewater, Md.) made one of her six saves on the day to keep the visitors off of the scoreboard.
Fellow classmate Tawni Buck (Perryville/Port Deposit, Md.) had an opportunity to put the game away with 35 seconds left in the game but her penalty stroke was stopped by Seahawk goalie Whitney Fahrman.
Frostburg State returns to action on October 4th when it travels to Goucher College at 1:00 p.m.
