04/07/2003

"Figure of Each," an exhibition of works by seniors Tom Couteau, Denise Goode and Cathy Stephis, will be on view from Friday, April 25, through Wednesday, April 30, at Frostburg State University's Stephanie Anne Roper Gallery. An opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on April 25. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

Couteau, of Huntingtown, plans to graduate in May with a BFA in art and design. His focus is painting landscapes and figurative pieces. In addition, he works with metal sculpture and printmaking. He is a graduate of St. Mary's Ryken High School.

A native of Bowie, Goode will graduate with a BFA in art and design and minors in art history and graphic design. Her paintings are primarily composed of figurative work on innovative surfaces created specifically for this exhibition. She is a graduate of Eleanor Roosevelt High School.

Stephis, of Baltimore, will graduate next December with a BFA in art and design, a minor in art history and a K-12 art education teaching certification. She has a dual focus in painting and ceramics. Most of her paintings are figurative and convey social issues and themes within specific series, while her ceramics vary in style. She graduated from Kenwood High School.
