First United Bank and Trust Endows $25,000 Scholarship Fund at Frostburg State University
First United Bank and Trust has fully endowed a $25,000 scholarship fund at Frostburg State University to benefit academically gifted students with financial need, the institutions have announced.
The First United Bank and Trust Scholarship Fund will be managed by the FSU Foundation, Inc.
The gift was received by Dr. Rosemary M. Thomas, FSU vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the FSU Foundation, and Alicia White, FSUF director of administration and finance.
Thomas commended First United for its generosity. “By investing in the scholarship process, First United is making an investment in our University’s future and, in turn, in our students’ futures as well,” said Thomas.
“First United believes in supporting the academic growth of future leaders in our communities,” said Phil Rodeheaver, First United market area president. “Frostburg State University is a terrific resource in our rural community for higher education, and we are proud to be able to endow this scholarship.”
The gift is most appreciated by FSU – particularly by the students, Thomas said.
“It provides our students with an understanding of the importance of philanthropy. The student recipients know they’re receiving this assistance and support because someone has ‘paid it forward’ and is recognizing their potential,” Thomas said.
