FROSTBURG, MD —
The Frostburg State football team ranks among the top squads in this week's NCAA Division III statistics.
In the team categories, FSU is 14th in total offense (458.0 ypg), tied for 24th in scoring (35.8 ppg) and 35th in rushing yards (215.6 ypg).
Individually, junior running back Edward Kearney (Bel Air, Md./Calvert) is 25th in the nation with 128.2 rushing yards per game, while senior defensive tackle George O'Brien (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) is tied for 25th with 6.2 solo tackles per game (31 in five contests).
A pair of Bobcat kickers are also among the best in the nation this week.
Freshman John Wheaton (Clearwater, Fla./Osbourn Park (Va.)) ranks fourth in the county in punting with a 42.0-yard average, and sophomore Nick Quisgard (Baltimore, Md./John Carroll) is tied for 37th with 0.8 field goals per game (he is 4-for-6 this season).
Frostburg State, 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the Atlantic Central Football Conference, looks for its third straight win on Saturday when it visits Catholic for a 1:00 pm contest.
