STEVENSON, MD —
Senior Amy Foote (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco)
scored the second of her two goals with 6:54 remaining to lift Frostburg State to a 4-3 win over host Villa Julie on Sunday afternoon.
The Bobcats won their fourth straight game to improve to 9-1, while the Mustangs fell to 1-5-1.
Villa Julie's Adrienne Justis scored the first of her three goals just 3:48 into the game to give the hosts an early lead, but junior Tiffany Parker (Pasadena, Md./North East) pulled the Bobcats even just under two minutes later with her eight goal of the year.
Justis again put the Mustangs ahead, 2-1, in the 13th minute before Foote responded less than five minutes later to forge another tie.
FSU, which held a 29-18 advantage in shots, took its first lead of the day in the game's 39th minute when freshman Karen Kotofski (Glen Burnie, Md./North East) found the net for the ninth time in the last four games, giving the Bobcats a 3-2 lead at halftime.
Justis again evened the contest when she scored off an assist from Patricia Young with 7:11 remaining, but the Bobcats needed just 17 seconds to answer, as Foote tallied the game-winner off a feed from freshman Erika Neuser (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston).
Bobcat sophomore Stephanie Zych (Slingerlands, Md./Guilderland) made eight saves to improve to 9-1 on the year, while Gina Cinquegrani stopped 13 shots for the Mustangs.
Frostburg State visits Washington & Jefferson on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
