Foote Sets Career Goals Record in 10-0 Win over Penn State Altoona
10/07/2001

FROSTBURG, MD — Senior Amy Foote (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) scored her school-record 44th career goal and added two assists as Frostburg State dropped Penn State Altoona, 10-0, in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action Sunday afternoon.

Foote, who has scored seven goals in her last six games, sent a right-footed shot into the right side of the net with 30:20 remaining in the first half to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead and break the former mark of 43 goals set by Erin Hawley from 1994-97.

Foote finished the day with 108 career points, just two shy of Hawley's all-time school record.

"There's not another player I've worked with who deserves this honor more than Amy," said Bobcat Head Coach Carrie Lysik. "She's worked extremely hard on and off the field during her four years, and I'm very happy for her."

Freshman Erika Neuser (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) put FSU up 2-0 less than seven minutes later before Foote sent a corner kick to freshman Laurie Reinholt (Middletown, Del./Glasgow), who knocked the ball in from close range for a 3-0 Bobcat lead.

Frostburg State (13-2 overall, 5-0 AMCC) opened a 4-0 lead when freshman Alana Timulak (Boswell, Pa./North Star) converted a pass from junior Christina Bleivik (Houston, Pa./Bartlett (Alaska)) just 1:46 before halftime.

The Bobcats continued to pour on the offense in the second half.

Sophomore Jackie Curry (Waldorf, Md./McDonough) blasted in a direct kick from outside the 18 just 41 seconds in, and freshman Karen Kotofski (Glen Burnie, Md./Northeast) scored her team-high 15th goal of the year seven minutes later with an assist from Neuser.

Neuser notched her second goal of the game just over a minute later with an acrobatic bicycle kick inside the box off a corner feed from Foote to give FSU a 7-0 lead.

Bleivik found the net with a 20-yard blast for her first goal of the year, and Timulak and freshman Alyse Reed (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) scored 54 seconds apart to cap the victory.

Sophomore Stephanie Zych (Slingerlands, N.Y./Guilderland) picked up her 13th win of the year, tying Sharon Colantonio's single-season school record set in 1997.

The shutout was Zych's eighth this season and the ninth of her career, moving her to within two of both Colantonio's single-season school mark of 10 (1997) and Jessica Richardson's career record of 11 set just last season.

Frostburg State will host Division II Findlay on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
