FROSTBURG, Md. —
The Frostburg State Athletic Department will host Billy Bender Day this Saturday at Bobcat Stadium as the Bobcats take on Buffalo State in an Atlantic Central Football Conference game. Kickoff is set for 1 pm.
Bender, owner of Billy Bender Chevrolet in Grantsville and Billy Bender’s CARSMART in Frostburg, will be recognized for his generous donation of a brand new 2006 Chevrolet HHR that is being raffled off as a major fundraiser for Bobcat Athletics.
Tickets are on sale now for $20, and all sales will go directly to support FSU’s sports teams. Tickets will be available at Saturday’s game and can also be purchased through the FSU Athletic Department located in Room 293 of the Harold J. Cordts Physical Education Center or from any FSU student-athlete or coach.
The winner will be drawn at halftime of the men’s basketball game Saturday, February 4 against Lake Erie.
"As a graduate of Frostburg State University and a local business person, I am happy to do my part in helping the Bobcat athletic department and the FSU Cultural Events Series," said Bender, a former member of the Bobcat basketball team.
"Billy Bender has been a friend of FSU athletics for a long time now," said Director of Athletics Ralph Brewer. "With this substantial gift, he has provided us with the potential to raise $100,000 for the 21 individual sports in our program. Everyone here is grateful to him."
Subway of Frostburg has also joined in the raffle with a coupon for 10% off on the back of each ticket.
