Frostburg State University-Based A STAR! Searching for Nonprofit Organizations
09/17/2010

The Frostburg State University-based A STAR! in Western Maryland AmeriCorps program has full-time members available to serve at nonprofit organizations in Frederick, Washington, Allegany or Garrett counties. The four available members will serve an average of 35 hours per week providing direct service to nonprofits that improve the quality of life of community members throughout Western Maryland.

The A STAR! (Appalachian Service Through Action and Resources) program is a regionally-based national service program, providing services that improve the literacy of children, enhance health care and living conditions of children and elders, help at-risk youth through after-school programs, improve shelter and support services for low-income families and preserve the environment for Western Maryland communities.

For more information, or to apply for an AmeriCorps member for your nonprofit organization, contact Frostburg State University’s Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement at 301-687-4210. -end-
