As part of its ongoing efforts to connect with and provide resources to students, faculty, staff, friends, visitors and alumni, Frostburg State University is launching Frostburg2Go, a free mobile suite of apps you can download onto your mobile device.
“Frostburg2Go puts a variety of helpful campus information and resources – news, events, contacts, courses, a campus map, Bobcat Express – all within reach, from wherever you are,” said Amber Nolan, FSU’s instructional technology specialist and training coordinator who leads FSU’s Mobile Initiative team.
“This is just the first phase in what we envision will be a growing number of resources we want to make available to the FSU community through mobile technology.”
“This is an exciting development for FSU, one that I feel responds to how people receive information in today’s world,” said FSU President Jonathan Gibralter. “I’m pleased we’ll finally have a mobile presence through Frostburg2Go, something we’ve needed for a while.”
Working with Blackboard Mobile, the company that originally developed a university iPhone application for Stanford University, Frostburg2Go was implemented by FSU’s Mobile Initiative team, which is composed of members from Academic Computing & Instructional Technologies, FSU’s Communications and Media Relations division and the Lewis J. Ort Library. Frostburg2Go will be available for download through iTunes, Android Market and the BlackBerry App World store this fall.
