Frostburg State University Office of University Advancement Undergoing Changes
06/05/2003

Frostburg State University's Office of University Advancement will be reorganized effective July 1, with Associate Vice President for Alumni and Development Colleen Peterson assuming the position of Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Programs, and current Vice President of University Advancement Dr. Gary Horowitz becoming the University's Coordinator of Government Relations.

Peterson will oversee and lead the operations of the FSU Foundation Inc., Alumni Programs, News and Media Services, Publications and WFWM, the campus radio station. Peterson served as interim vice president for University Advancement at Frostburg in the early 1990s. She has been with FSU since 1985. Previously, she held positions with the Human Resources Development Commission of Allegany County and the Head Start program in Woonsocket, R.I.

Horowitz's responsibilities will include government relations at the state, county and local level. He is FSU's official liaison with the USM legislative relations staff and will work directly with members of the General Assembly as appropriate. He will also coordinate the efforts of the Alumni Association Advocacy Committee. He is FSU's designated representative on the legislative committee of the Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Frostburg Business and Professional Association, the Frostburg Main Street Committee, and he is our official liaison with the Mayor and City Council of Frostburg. He is also responsible for coordinating major events sponsored by the President's office involving external visitors such as the upcoming ribbon-cuttings for Compton Science Center and Edgewood Commons and meetings of the Board of Regents. He will report directly to FSU President Catherine Gira.
