The Activities for Life Center at Frostburg State University will offer pre-school, beginner and intermediate tumbling classes for children ages 5 to 12 years on Tuesdays beginning Feb. 14 in Cordts PE Center Room 170.
The Pre-School class will meet from 4:30 to 5 p.m. and run through May 9. (There will be no class March 21.) The class, which is limited to 12 students, is for children 3 and 4 years old who have little or no formal tumbling training. (We prefer that the children are potty trained.) The class will include cartwheels, rolls and other simple movements. The class is designed to teach flexibility, strength, muscle control and coordination. Instructor will be Heather Buccheri.
The beginner class is for children ages 5 to 12. It will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. and run through March 14. The class will include basic floor tumbling exercises and some work on the low balance beam. (This is not an advanced tumbling class.) Space is limited to 15 participants with a minimum of seven. The instructors will be Heather Buccheri and Lindsay Blanken.
The intermediate class is for children ages 5 to 12. It will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. and run through March 14. Pre-requisites for this class are a round-off and a kick over from a bridge (back walk-over). Space is limited to 10 participants with a minimum of six. Buccheri and Blanken will instruct.
Advance registration is required for all classes. Contact Center Coordinator Amy Nazelrod at (301) 687-7934 for information and registration.
