Frostburg State University will celebrate Leadership and Homecoming Weekend from Friday, Oct. 3, to Sunday, Oct. 5. This year’s event will focus on FSU’s growing future and the opportunity to share ideas and positive changes that both alumni and current students have experienced. Events will include the All-Campus Sing, tailgating, Step Show and a chance to attend the campus-wide Career Expo and numerous athletic contests.
The festivities officially kick off on Friday morning with the Career Expo from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Office of Career Services invites alumni back to the University to share life experiences and discuss possible career choices with FSU students. Play a round of golf and visit with old classmates during the Bobcat Club’s Homecoming 2008 Golf Outing. The event offers the chance to meet fellow members and supporters of the Bobcat Club. Come join the fun at the All Campus Sing, sponsored by Sigma Alpha Iota on Friday at 8 p.m. Check out the variety of dance, instrumental and vocal acts by FSU students in this much-anticipated talent show. Performers will include FSU Greek organizations including Delta Zeta, Pi Lambda Phi, Phi Mu Alpha; UVUGD Gospel Choir, and solo artists from all across campus. Selected faculty, staff and alumni will serve as judges for the performances. The event will be held in the Performing Arts Center’s Pealer Recital Hall and is free and open to the public.
Continue the fun by catching up with your friends at the SGA Campus Mixer on Friday from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the Chesapeake Dining Hall.
Show your Bobcat spirit by attending the women’s volleyball games with Hilbert College at 11 a.m. and Stevenson University at 3 p.m. in the Cordts PE Center, and Bobcat soccer fans won’t want to miss the men’s and women’s soccer teams hosting the visiting Medaille teams. The women’s game will begin at 5 p.m., and the men’s game starts at 7 p.m.
Stop by and check out the Center for Volunteerism and National Service Programs’ Glories Happy Hats service project from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the FSU Lane University Center’s Appalachian Station. The project allows students and alumni both to give back to the community by making soft, colorful, jester-like hats to brighten the lives of children suffering from serious illnesses.
Get ready for the football game Bobcat-style with a tailgating party from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Free parking spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The SGA-sponsored Pre-Game Social is another place for some pre-game fun. Come to the tent at Bobcat Stadium starting at noon on Saturday.
Then cheer on the Bobcats and enjoy time with friends and alumni during the Bobcat vs. Wesley College football game in Bobcat Stadium. The game starts at 1 p.m. and admission is free.
The Roper Gallery in the FSU Fine Arts Building will feature an art exhibit by the Salisbury University Art Faculty, free and open to the public, on Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. on both days.
The Varsity Club Social at the Frostburg Moose Club will offer all former FSU athletes the chance to gather after the game to share battle wounds, talk about our favorite competitors and decide which sport has made FSU’s history the richest. The Black Student Alliance will sponsor a Making Connections and Networking Workshop and Luncheon on Saturday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Room 201 of the FSU Lane University Center.
The always popular National Pan-Hellenic Council Step-Show will be held in the Cordts PE Center Main Arena on Saturday at 6 p.m. A BSA After-Jam Party will be follow in the Arena from 10:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.
