FSU Center Stage Hosts World AIDS Week Activities

Frostburg State University’s Center Stage will host World AIDS Week activities from Monday, Nov. 29, to Thursday, Dec. 2.

National speaker Elaine Pasqua will present “Living and Loving in a World with AIDS” on Nov. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lane University Center, room 201. Pasqua is an educator about HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. Both of her parents died from AIDS and from this experience, she has been able to offer an inspiring message. She also adds comedy and realism to this extremely important topic.

The film “Gia” will be featured on Tuesday, Nov. 30, and Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall in the Lane University Center. This film is about Gia Carangi who was an 80’s fashion model whose modeling career fell short after being diagnosed with AIDS. The film stars Angelina Jolie. Food and refreshments will be offered at the showing of the film.

Center Stage and the Brady Health Center will be offering free HIV antibody testing on Wednesday, Dec. 1, and Thursday, Dec. 2. For these two days the HIV antibody testing will not require the usual $10 office fee. You can call the Brady Health Center to make an appointment and confidentiality is guaranteed.
