The Frostburg State University Chamber Choir will present its Annual Spring Choral Concert Sunday, April 17, at 4 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church at 16 Washington St. in Cumberland. The concert is part of the Betty Jane Phillips Memorial Concert Series and this year, is dedicated to FSU voice instructor Patricia Kelby, who died last month.
The Chamber Choir’s performance includes Ola Gjeilo’s eight-part arrangement of “Unicornis Captivatur,” “Nunc Dimittis” by Alexander Gretchaninoff; “Io son la primavera” for 10-part chorus by William Hawley, “Suite de Lorca” by Einojuhani Rautavaara, “Coenantibus autem illis” by Juan de Lienas, “Flower of Beauty” by John Clements featuring guest conductor Ryan Mullaney of Cumberland, “Song to the Moon” by Z. Randall Stroope and “River Snow” by Ying Zhang featuring Jiagi Xu from Changsha, China. The program will conclude with U2’s well-known arrangement of “MLK” arranged by Bob Chilcott featuring Darren Ross, Andre Wilson and Lane Conklin, tenors, and the lively gospel spiritual “Ask the Watchman” by Sean Caldwell and Taylor Ivory.
