FSU College of Business Scholarship Reflects Alum’s Goal to Give Back Following Great Experiences at University

Thanks to the generosity of Theresa R. Williams-Harrison and Roosevelt Harrison, there’s a new scholarship possibility for Frostburg State University College of Business students.

The Theresa R. Williams-Harrison and Roosevelt Harrison College of Business Scholarship benefits students enrolled full time in FSU’s College of Business with an overall grade point average of a minimum of 2.7. Preference will be given to applicants from Baltimore City.

“Born and raised in Baltimore, it was just such a contrast for me coming from the city to Frostburg and falling in love with the area,” said Williams-Harrison, who graduated from FSU with a bachelor’s degree in business in 1980 and an MBA in 1988. “I’m hoping this encourages students from Baltimore to go to Frostburg and have the same sort of experience.”

It only makes sense to give back, Williams-Harrison said, because the positive experiences she had at FSU have served her well. She is president of GEORGE STREET Services, Inc., an IT and management consulting firm.

“Frostburg was the right school for me and my accomplishments have largely happened because of the education I obtained there,” she said. “I always knew I would give back to my alma mater. Frostburg offered many academic resources to ensure my success and I am just hoping in a small way to assist with ensuring the success of future students at Frostburg.”

This is one of many ways Williams-Harrison, who now lives in Walkersville, Md., anticipates giving back to her alma mater.

“This is not the only scholarship or endowment I am participating in. After setting up my scholarship, I then focused on giving to and supporting the A4 (African American Alumni Affinity) Group Scholarship,” she said.
