FSU Creative Writing Center Presents Poetry and Fiction Reading

Frostburg State University’s Center for Creative Writing will host poet Beth Ann Fennelly and fiction writer Tom Franklin reading their works on Tuesday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lyric Theater, 22 E. Main St., Frostburg. The reading by this Oxford, Miss., couple is free and open to the public.

Fennelly, author of four poetry collections, including “Tender Hooks,” “Great with Child: Letters to a Young Mother” and” Unmentionables,” is a recipient of the 2003 National Endowment for the Arts Award. Her chapbook “Open House” won the 2001 Kenyon Review Prize for a First Book and the GLCA New Writers Award. She is an assistant professor at the University of Mississippi.

Franklin has published a collection of short stories and two novels; his third book, “Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter,” is scheduled for release in 2010. Franklin’s stories have been anthologized in volumes such as “Best American Mystery Stories” and “Best Mystery Stories of the Century.” The recipient of the 2001 Guggenheim Fellowship, Franklin teaches in the University of Mississippi’s MFA program.
