The Frostburg State University Department of Music will present a joint recital by pianists Erin Briskey and Amanda Zimmermann on Sunday Nov. 11, at 3 p.m., in the Performing Arts Center’s Pealer Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Among the pieces scheduled to be performed are J.S. Bach’s “Toccata in E minor (BWV 914),” Beethoven’s “Sonata in F minor (Op.2, No.1)” and from Mozart’s “Piano Sonata No. 11 in A minor.”
Briskey, a graduate of Meyersdale (Pa.) Area High School is a senior Music Education major. She hopes to teach music to elementary school students or at a private piano studio. A student of Nancy Witmer, Briskey also studied with Melody Gaschler and Ruby Trent. She is a member of the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference and Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity.
Zimmermann is a resident of Cumberland, Md., and a junior majoring in Music Performance. At Frostburg, Zimmermann has received both the Academic Excellence and the Talent in the Arts scholarships. While at Frostburg, Zimmermann is also a student of Nancy Witmer. She previously studied with Gwendolyn Harris and hopes to have a career as a Christian musician or as a missionary.
