The members of the Frostburg State University Brass Faculty will perform a recital on Friday, March 26, at 8 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public.
Faculty members Dereck Scott on trumpet, Philip Klickman on horn and Kevin McManus on trombone will perform several pieces for solo players without accompaniment, such as “Parable XIV for Trumpet” by Vincent Persichetti, “Blues and Variations for Monk” by David Amram and “Elegy for Mippy II” by Leonard Bernstein. Also featured on the program is “Fanfare for St. Edmundsbury,” by Benjamin Britten. This piece was written for three trumpet players, and Scott will take on the feat of playing all three parts in this performance. The program will also include Francis Poulenc’s “Sonata for Brass Trio,” featuring all three performers.
