The tuxedos and gowns will be only one indication that this is going to be a special evening of music. The Department of Music at Frostburg State University, co-sponsored by the FSU Foundation, will present "Classic, Contemporary and All That Jazz," an exciting and diverse musical offering, on Friday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center Pealer Recital Hall .
Joining forces on this concert are jazz personalities from the tri-state region, highly acclaimed classical performers from the Baltimore and Washington area and many of the FSU Music Department faculty that have performed regularly in Frostburg and Cumberland over the years. Several local musicians have also been invited to participate in this event.
Works for clarinet and cello, for voice and piano, for trombone and percussion, for timpani, and for jazz combo are among those on the program for this recital. The concert's close will feature pieces for five grand pianos-an unprecedented occurrence in this area (and almost everywhere else). There will be, in addition, several musical surprises for the audience.
All proceeds will benefit FSU Music Department scholarships.
Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for students. Call (301) 687-4145 for reservations. Tickets are available at Main Street Books in Frostburg, The Book Center in Cumberland, FSU's Lane University Center and the FSU Music Department Office.
