FSU Homecoming Court Raises More Than $6,000 for Charities
Amanda Wallace of Alpha Sigma Alpha and Eric Paul from Phi Mu Delta
Nine student candidates for Frostburg State University’s 2012 Homecoming court have raised a total of $6,029.01 to donate to various charities as part of FSU’s Leadership and Homecoming festivities. Representing seven campus organizations, these candidates have upheld an eight-year tradition of supporting local and national charities in need. This year’s Queen is Amanda Wallace of Alpha Sigma Alpha. She raised $215 for Easter Seals, a charity that supports children and adults with disabilities. Homecoming King is Eric Paul from Phi Mu Delta, who raised $721.89 for the Cumberland YMCA.

Other members for the 2012 Homecoming Court are:

• Lauren Schoelen of Alpha Sigma Tau who raised $3,577.52 for the American Heart Association

• Samantha Mulvey of Delta Zeta who raised $542.47 for the American Cancer Society

• Liku Waka of Alpha Phi Omega who raised $85 for Big Brothers/Big Sisters

• Nicole Wilson and Evan Greenberg, both from the Residence Hall Association, who raised a combined $307.13 for Heifer International

• Jerica Bennett and Jeffrey Ilechie, both from the Student Government Association, who raised a combined $580 for the Allegany County Animal Shelter

Before the Homecoming King and Queen were crowned, each candidate spent three weeks raising money for their selected charity. After this process came the candidate interviews and the student body voting, which took place in the week leading up to Leadership and Homecoming Weekend. The Homecoming King and Queen were chosen based on the popular vote, and were crowned during the Bobcat Growl Pep Rally on Oct. 18. In addition to reigning over Leadership and Homecoming Weekend, the King and Queen received the Foundation Royalty Award of $250 each, given to them by the FSU Foundation, Inc.
