Frostburg State University's 2001-2002 International Film Series continues with "The Ice Rink" on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. in Lane University Center room 201. The series is sponsored by Center Stage and the Department of Student & Community Involvement.
Directed by French novelist Jean-Philippe Toussaint, this whimsical French comedy focuses on the joys and perils of filmmaking. A French director hopes to make a hockey romance for the Venice Film Festival, featuring an American leading man (cult favorite Bruce Campbell), a French leading lady (Deloris Chaplin, granddaughter of Charlie) and a Lithuanian hockey team. Things go awry as the ice melts, the Lithuanians can't communicate because they don't speak French and the leading couple engage in a steamy affair.
In French with English subtitles, "The Ice Rink" ("La Patinoire") runs for about 77minutes, and is free and open to the public. For information, contact the Lane University Center Information Desk at 301-687-4411.
