FSU International Film Series to Present "Life and Debt"
02/21/2003

The Frostburg State University International Film Series will present "Life and Debt" on Tuesday, March 11, in the Lane University Center's Atkinson Room 201. This series is sponsored by Center Stage and the Department of Student & Community Involvement.

A documentary by Stephanie Black, "Life and Debt" explores the economic and political fallout of globalization in Jamaica. The film is a woven tapestry of sequences focusing on the stories of individual Jamaicans whose strategies for survival and parameters of day-to-day existence are determined by the U.S. and other foreign economic agendas. By combining traditional documentary telling with a stylized narrative framework, the complexity of international lending, structural adjustment policies and free trade will be understood in the context of the day-to-day realities of the people whose lives they impact.

This film, which runs for about 80 minutes, is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For information, contact the Lane University Center Information Desk at (301) 687- 4411.

FSU is committed to making all of its programs, services and activities accessible to persons with disabilities. You may request accommodations through the ADA Compliance Office, (301) 687-4102, TDD (301) 687-7955.
