Researchers at Frostburg State University are trying to locate area residents who are knowledgeable about herbs and medicinal plants in the Western Maryland and nearby West Virginia and Pennsylvania areas. The researchers are looking at ways in which the University can help to expand this knowledge and further community understanding of medicinal herbs.
Individuals who respond will be sent a short questionnaire asking some basic questions about their knowledge and interest in herbs and herbal medicine. Some of those who return the questionnaire will be interviewed to gain more detailed information.
One of the goals of the researchers is to compile a list of people in the area who share similar interests in herbs and to connect them with each other. Organizers of this project are seeking individuals with a wide variety of interests – herb growers, collectors/harvesters, sellers, buyers, herbalists who recommend herbs to others, as well as those who use herbs.
If you are one of these individuals or know of someone who has a special knowledge of herbs, please contact Dr. Michael Olson, Frostburg State University, Department of Sociology, 101 Braddock Road, Frostburg, MD 21532. You can call at 301-687-7965 or contact by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
