FSU Mass Communication Department Presents Mind Culture Original Music Projec
Musicians, you now have the chance to make some dreams come true. Whether you are a member of a band or go solo, here is your chance to perform your original music for a live audience as well as have your music professionally recorded on a CD for the world to hear.

Frostburg State University’s Department of Mass Communication will present two Open Mic Nights on Thursday, March 8, and Thursday, March 15, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. in the Lane University Center Loft. This event is free and open to the public.

The Open Mic Nights are a part of the Music Promotions class’ Mind Culture Original Music Project. The goal of the Mind Culture project is to produce a full-length music CD with original music from local area and student artists. Participants in the open mic nights will have time slots assigned at 5 p.m. and will be invited to submit work to be submitted for inclusion on this year’s CD as well as perform in a live show near the end of the semester at an area venue.

“This is not just for students; we really want the residents of the surrounding area to get involved,” said Department of Mass Communication Chair Dr. John Lombardi. “We call it the Mind Culture Original Music Project because the goal is to promote local artists and their original material. It also gives students an opportunity to learn more about music promotions by participating in the project.”

For more information about the Mind Culture Original Music Project, attend one of the Open Mic Night events or contact the Department of Mass Communication at 301-687-3049 or mcom@frostburg.edu.
