FSU Modern Humanities Institute – A Unique Way to Obtain Your Master’s Degree
12/09/2002

Thinking about working towards your master’s degree? Have time in the summer to pursue this dream? The Frostburg State University Modern Humanities Institute may be the program for you. It is an educational experience that will broaden your horizons and open your mind unlike any summer vacation you have experienced. Applications are now being accepted for the upcoming sessions.

The FSU Modern Humanities Institute offers a unique program leading to the degree of Masters of Arts in Modern Humanities. This summer-only, interdisciplinary program, which is open to individuals with a bachelor’s degree in any field of study, focuses on the 20th century and encompasses the fields of literature, history and philosophy. The topical focus of the program is upon the ethical and moral issues examined from these three perspectives.

In addition to those individuals who are interested in completing the M.A. degree in Modern Humanities, the program has proven attractive to individuals who may not be interested in completing an entire graduate program, but whose personal and/or professional life can benefit from the writing and analytical skills fostered by graduate liberal studies.

The program’s broad appeal is demonstrated in the diversity of its participants. The age of students has ranged from 21 to 60, and student professionals have included educators, librarians, ministers, engineers and homemakers.
