FSU Presents Distinguished Alumni Achievement Awards at 142nd Commencement
Thomas N. Creamer and Dr. Jesse Ketterman
Frostburg State University presented the 2013 Distinguished Alumni Achievement Awards to Thomas N. Creamer and Dr. Jesse Ketterman at the 142nd commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 18, in the Cordts Physical Education Center.

Creamer, Class of ’82, of Gaithersburg, Md., was honored at the afternoon ceremony. He is manager of Technology Consulting and Data Analysis within Marriott’s Technology Management Center, with responsibility for the processes and procedures that result in the expenditure of more than $40 million annually. Creamer recently received two Marriott Values in Practice awards for his efforts to lower costs and increase staff efficiency. One of his efforts resulted in savings of more than $2.1 million over the last two years. Before moving into technology procurement in the private sector, Creamer worked for 10 years on Capitol Hill, initially as a legislative aide and later as systems manager for the congressional computer networks. He has been an election judge with the Montgomery County Board of Elections for four years. After his father died in 2003, Creamer established the Paul J. Creamer Memorial Scholarship within FSU’s Political Science Department. In 2010, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the FSU Foundation, Inc.

Ketterman, of Frostburg, who earned master’s degrees from FSU in business administration and education in 1998 and 2001, was honored at the morning ceremony. He has served in various capacities during his 14 years at FSU, formerly as director of Student Development and assistant and associate director of Residence Life, and presently as assistant vice president for Student Services and dean of students. Ketterman received a national award as Mid-Level Student Affairs Professional of the Year by NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education and was named a member of The Daily Record’s VIP List because of his outstanding professional accomplishment, civic involvement and impact of achievement before age 40. He was elected treasurer of the Association for Student Conduct Administrators and serves as the secretary for the Frostburg Business and Professional Association. Ketterman works with his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Order, and was inducted into its Hamilton Court of Honor. He holds a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Touro University International. He and his wife, Lynn, support a number of scholarship funds, including the newly established Buckheit-Ketterman Family Scholarship.
