FSU Students to Give Readings of Their Prose Poems
05/06/2009

The Frostburg State University Department of English presents students from this semester's English 490 Selected Topics in English class: the Prose Poem, will read from their works on Wednesday, May 13, at 6 p.m. at Mountain City Coffee and Creamery in downtown Frostburg. The event is free and open to the public.

"The prose poem and other short prose forms have an inherent wackiness that I think is suitable for where we are at this time in the semester--we're all a little exhausted, and I thought having the students give a reading as part of their final exam was a great way to remember the idea of community in being writers,” said assistant professor of English Gerry LaFemina. “And I'll say this about the class, they've written some fine work over the past few months and the students are hoping for a good crowd with whom to share their work.”

The Mountain City Coffee and Creamery will stay open later that day for the event. For more information, contact LaFemina at glafemina@frostburg.edu or at 301-687-4024.
