FSU Trident Initiative Announces Third Annual Conference Sept. 25 and 26
Frostburg State University’s Trident Initiative and the Western Maryland SCORE Chapters in Hagerstown and Cumberland will conduct the Third Annual Entrepreneurship conference on Thursday, Sept. 25, and Friday, Sept. 26, at the University System of Maryland in Hagerstown (USMH), 32 W. Washington St.
Titled “Regional Renaissance…Transforming Communities through Entrepreneurial Activity,” this event will focus on business and entrepreneurial opportunities in the Western Maryland region, and in particular, the Hagerstown area. The conference will highlight the transformational impact of entrepreneurial efforts that contribute to the spirit of economic and cultural promise and renewal in the Hagerstown community. A variety of themes will be covered, including the best practices in the area of green businesses, the movement towards the “greening” of businesses as well as the importance of the “microentrepreneur.” Innovations in agricultural entrepreneurship, educational efforts to spur entrepreneurism in the region and programs established by all levels of government to support entrepreneurs will be discussed as well.
The conference will also recognize and honor entrepreneurs of the region with a view to showcasing the region’s “best practices” in small business. Awards for the Model Entrepreneur and Young Entrepreneur of the Year will be presented at the Awards Luncheon.
The conference will serve the needs of both prospective and current entrepreneurs along with member of the academic community and government officials as well. David W. Edgerley, Secretary, Maryland Department of Business and economic Development (DBED), will address the conference.
