The Activities for Life Center at Frostburg State University will offer a Stott Pilates class on Tuesdays from Feb. 5 to May 14 from 4 to 5 p.m. in Cordts PE Center Room 160. There will be no class March 26, spring break.
The class is limited to 8 participants, so registration is required by Wednesday, Jan. 30. The fee is $98.
Stott Pilates is a contemporary, anatomically based approach to Joseph Pilates' original exercise method. Its exercises safely deliver optimal strength, flexibility and endurance, without adding bulk. Stott Pilates improves core strength and balances the muscles around the joints, improving the way the body functions, looks and feels. It focuses specifically on breathing, pelvic placement, scapular movement and head and cervical spine placement.
Benefits of Stott Pilates include longer, leaner muscles; improved posture and injury prevention. It complements other methods of exercise.
The class will be instructed by Jennifer Cristophel, a Stott-trained matwork instructor. All participants must provide their own mats for the class. For information and to reserve a spot, contact Amy Nazelrod, Center Coordinator, at (301) 687-7934.
FSU is committed to making all of its programs, services and activities accessible to persons with disabilities. To request accommodations through the ADA Compliance Office, call (301) 687-4102, TDD (301) 687-7955.
