FSU’s Centre for Children’s Literature Presents Author Laura Malone Elliott

The Frostburg State University Centre for Children’s Literature presents its spring authorm Laura Malone Elliott, who will speak on Wednesday, March 8, at 7 p.m. at the Frostburg Community Center on Water Street.

Laura Malone Elliott is the author of several books for children including The Hunter and Stripe picture book series, inspired by her life as a mom and school volunteer, and ”Hunter’s Best Friend at School,” illustrated by Lynn Munsinger.

Elliott also writes fictional novels for young adults under the name L.M. Elliott. Her first novel “Under a War-Torn Sky,” a World War II story about a B-24 bomber pilot’s experiences with the French Resistance, is a Notable Children’s Trade Book in the Field of Social Studies. Other novels are “Annie, Between the States” and “Flying South.”

Elliott was a senior writer with “Washingtonian” magazine for 18 years before devoting herself to fiction. Elliott graduated from Wake Forest University and completed a master’s in journalism at the University of North Carolina. She still lives in her native Fairfax County, Va., with her husband, a high school English teacher, and their two children. She is currently researching a novel on an indentured servant’s experience during the Revolutionary War to be published by Harper Collins in November 2006.
