Frostburg State University student Christopher Delgado will perform his junior baritone recital, accompanied by pianist Nancy Witmer, on Sunday, April 10, at 7 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. The recital is free and open to the public.
Delgado will perform three songs by Franz Schubert, “Heidenröslein (Rose Blossom on the Heath),” “An Die Musik (To Music)” and “Die Forelle (The Trout).” He will then perform Vincenzo Bellini’s “Tre Ariette,” Gaetano Donzetti’s “Amore e Morte (Love and Death)” and Luiz Costa’s “Cinco canções: 1. O Sobriero (The Cork Tree)” and “2. Canção Marinha (Ocean Song).”
Delgado will also perform Paul Bowle’s “Four Blue Mountain Ballads” from the play “Tennessee Williams.” He will close the recital with “Soon It’s Gonna Rain” from Harvey Schmidt’s musical, “The Fantasticks.”
Delgado, who plans to graduate in May 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in music management, is studying voice with Dr. Karen Soderberg, FSU professor of music, after studying for two years with Dr. Jonathan Hodel. Delgado is a member of FSU University Chorale, Chamber Choir and Vocal Jazz Ensemble. He is the son of Jack and Maria Delgado of Washington, D.C., and is a 2006 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School.
