FSU’s Cultural Events Series Brings Best of Broadway to Frostburg

Neil Berg’s ‘100 Years of Broadway’ Features Lively Musical Medley

Broadway fans will get their money’s worth and more when Neil Berg’s “100 Years of Broadway,” a medley of Broadway’s most memorable musical moments, comes to the Frostburg State University Performing Arts Center Pealer Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21.

Created by award-winning composer Neil Berg, “100 Years of Broadway” recreates some of the biggest moments from the best known Broadway musical shows of the century, including “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Les Miserables” and “Jekyll and Hyde.” The show features revivals of Broadway classics as well as numbers from Broadway’s newest hit shows performed by the stars straight from Broadway and supported by an all-star New York band.

A spectacular cast of performers bring their talents to “100 Years of Broadway”: Rob Evan starred on Broadway playing both roles in “Jekyll and Hyde” for three years. He also starred on Broadway as Jean Valjean in “Les Miserables,” and in “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Dance of the Vampires.”

Mandy Gonzalez was last seen on Broadway starring in “Lennon.” Her credits include Amneris in Sir Elton John’s musical “Aida,” and Sarah in “Dance of the Vampires,” playing opposite Michael Crawford. She has performed as a backup singer for Bette Midler.

Tamra Hayden has appeared as Cosette in “Les Miserables” (a role she has performed over 1,800 times) and Texas in “Cabaret” at Studio 54. She has toured nationally as Christine in “The Phantom of the Opera,” Cosette in “Les Miserables,” and Hodel in “Fiddler on the Roof.”

William Michals performed on Broadway as the Beast in “Beauty and the Beast,” and also starred in “Les Miserables,” “Phantom,” “The Music Man,” “Man of La Mancha,” “Chicago,” “The Sound of Music” and “Camelot.”

Erick Buckley was the first person in the world to perform both the roles of Marius and Jean Valjean in “Les Miserables,” Piangi in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera,” Dave in “The Full Monty,” Roger in the Broadway revival of “Grease!” and Gangster #1 in the Tony winning Broadway revival of “Kiss Me, Kate.”
