FSU’s Cultural Events Series LIVE! at StarScape Presents the SFJAZZ Collective
Frostburg State University’s Cultural Events Series presents musical super group the SFJAZZ Collective on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 8 p.m. in the Lane University Center’s Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall. The jazzy tribute to music legend Stevie Wonder is offered as part of CES’ new LIVE! at StarScape series.

The SFJAZZ Collective is a jazz ensemble involving eight of the finest musicians from the current jazz scene. Created in 2004, the group has quickly established itself as one of the most electrifying and celebrated groups in the international jazz world. The 2011 ensemble features MacArthur Genius Grant winner Miguel Zenón on alto sax and flute, Guggenheim Fellow Edward Simon on piano, Grammy Award-nominated vibraphonist Stefon Harris and leading jazz masters Mark Turner on tenor saxophone, trumpeter Avishai Cohen, trombonist Robin Eubanks, Matt Penman on bass and Eric Harland on drums.

During their visit to FSU, SFJAZZ will present an energetic performance that explores the enduring melodies of pop music icon Stevie Wonder. Wonder’s impact on musicians and songwriters of all genres is presented to full effect in this stunning musical tribute. Tickets are $24 for adults and $18 for youth under 17. Corporate and group discount rates are also available. For more information, contact the Cultural Events Series box office at 301-687-3137 or visit CES’ webpage at ces.frostburg.edu.
