FSU’s Delta Zeta Sorority Recognized with 15 Awards at Regional Conference
04/09/2007

The Omicron Pi chapter of Delta Zeta sorority at Frostburg State University was recently recognized for its outstanding efforts when it received 15 awards out of 30 awards given during a Delta Zeta Region Day conference March 31 in Indiana, Pa.

FSU’s Delta Zeta chapter took home awards in the areas of “Membership,” “Academic” and “Special” awards. The group won three membership awards for reaching the total number it needed for recruitment, for reaching a goal of 100 percent participation in outside campus organizations and for having 100 percent initiation of new members in fall 2006. Delta Zeta was also recognized with academic awards for the following: having new member grade point averages of 3.0 and over; having the highest new member averages for fall 2006; having chapter averages of 3.0 and over; having the highest chapter average for both spring and fall 2006; and excellence in academics.

The group also received special awards for excellence in philanthropy (the FSU chapter raised $350 per member in fund-raising efforts, and each member has contributed 35 hours for philanthropy events), excellence in “I Have a Choice” programming, “Pan-Hellenic Excellence” and excellence in alumnae relations. Additionally, Jamie Winters, the on-campus adviser and college chapter director for Delta Zeta at FSU, won “Outstanding College Chapter Director.”

Finally, in a moment of absolute triumph, the Delta Zetas of FSU also won the most prestigious award, “Pride of the Region,” as the most outstanding chapter in the region in its exemplification of high standards for Delta Zeta National Sorority.
