FSU’s Department of Mass Communication Presents Seventh Annual Mind Culture Original Music Project
Are you a part of a band or musical act looking to get your music out to the world? Would you like to have your music recorded and mastered? The Department of Mass Communication at Frostburg State University can help through its seventh annual Mind Culture Original Music project.
Each year, the MCOM department solicits original music to be included on a compilation CD. The goals of the project are to give students the experience of promoting and producing a music CD and to give local and regional bands another opportunity to be heard.
If you have an original song (with or without lyrics), Mass Comm is looking to have you submit your work. If your song is already produced, please submit it on CD to the Department of Mass Communication, Guild Center 119. All produced music must be received by Thursday, April 22. If you would like to be recorded, you must contact the Department of Mass Communication by Monday, March 22. All submitted songs will be considered for inclusion on the Mind Culture Original Music vol. 7 CD to be released later this semester. All musical acts will be considered for a live show in May. All submissions must be accompanied by a release form giving FSU permission to use your song for the CD. Forms are available in Guild Center 118.
Artists appearing on previous CDs include Hannah Bingman, Insipid, Distorted Penguins, Erik and Dhru, White Noise, Killa Kodiak, Royal Army Recording Company and many more. Previous copies of the Mind Culture Original Music CD are available for $7 (including tax, shipping and handling). Call 301-687-3049 to order your copy. All proceeds from CD sales will benefit the Department of Mass Communication through the FSU Foundation, Inc.
The Department of Mass Communication, along with the Mind Culture Original Music project, will host two open mic/karaoke events. The first event will be held on Saturday, March 27, and the second will be held on Saturday, April 10. Both events will take place from 1 until 4 p.m. at the Mountain City Coffeehouse and Creamery in Frostburg.
