The Frostburg State University Dance Company, under the artistic direction of Dr. Barry Fischer, will present its Spring Dance Concert on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 7, 8 and 9, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 10, at 2 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center Drama Theatre.
Guest choreographer will be FSU alumna Lori Cannon, one of the first graduates of FSU's dance major. She will present two works. The first is a solo titled, "Charmer," performed by freshman dance major Sarah Lucas-Haji, a work Cannon performed as a student to high acclaim. The second work is a group piece featuring the women of the FSU Dance Company.
Fischer, marking his 10th year as Dance Company artistic director, will present a fun new work set to Bette Midler's rendition of the lively Rosemary Clooney classic, "Mambo Italiano." The concert will also feature a surprise guest performer from New York City, and dance majors from the Dance Composition I class will perform a variety of their own works in hip hop and modern styles.
Tickets for the general public are $10. Tickets for students, faculty and staff with ID and children under 12 are $5. Group discounts are available. Tickets will be available beginning Monday, March 28, in the Division of Performing Arts office, PAC 302. They will also be available in the PAC box office one hour prior to the performances. For reservations or more information, call 301-687-4145, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
