FSU’s Spring Philosophical Forum to Discuss the Virtue of Making Up Your Mind
Dr. Shoshana Brassfield
Frostburg State University’s Department of Philosophy will present “Why You Should Make Up Your Mind Already: Descartes and the Virtue of Resolution,” the spring 2012 Philosophical Forum featuring Dr. Shoshana Brassfield, professor of philosophy at FSU. The presentation will be Wednesday, March 28, at 7 p.m. in the Atkinson Room (Room 232) of the Lane University Center, and will be followed by a free-ranging discussion between the audience and Brassfield.

For those who need to decide when they are going to start that important project, or need to decide on their major or even their career path; for the people who change their minds several times or avoid planning altogether and choose to just “wing it,” this is the forum to attend. This presentation will help those who combat the problem of indecisiveness and show them how to make their lives easier and happier. According to the 17th-century French philosopher René Descartes, if you haven’t chosen your path, you are already on the path to remorse and regret. The way to live a happy and virtuous life is to make up your mind and commit.
