FSU’s Theatre and Dance Department Presents Fall Dance Concert

Frostburg State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents its annual fall Dance Concert Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 22, 23 and 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.

The dance company is made up of 17 members; 13 are returning members and four are making their debut. Seniors Emily Morrison and Antonia deBarros will perform their final dance concert, dancing a farewell duet titled “Dance All Night.”

The performance will highlight 13 pieces ranging from classical ballet to tap to jazz with a very emotional rollercoaster and eclectic mix of dancing. Company director Jamie McGreevy choreographed two pieces that exemplify the diversified presentation of dance this semester. The first is a very emotional contemporary piece, and the second is an avant-grade piece to the music of Marilyn Manson.

During the performance, guest artists Madeline Bohrer and Hollie Robertson will dance in a piece alongside FSU students. Both of the guest artists are students of Mountain Ridge High School and Frostburg Dance Academy, and both won the FSU Dance Company’s contest, “So You Want to Dance?” open to local dancers ages 10 to 18. The contest began with a video audition submitted to the FSU Dance Company, with the final-round audition in person in front of the Company.

Tickets for the dance concert are $6 for students and $12 for the general public. For information and reservations, call the Theatre and Dance box office at 301-687-7462, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and again from 1:30 until 4 p.m.
