FROSTBURG, Md. —
The Frostburg State golf team opened its season with a victory at its own tournament, Thursday afternoon, at nearby Maplehurst Country Club.
In split squad action, the FSU white team captured the win with a combined score of 316 while the FSU black squad shot a 333 to finish sixth. Penn State Altoona was second overall with a 317 and La Roche was third with a 321.
Sean Buenger led the way for the Bobcat white team capturing the individual title on the first hole of a sudden playoff. He shot a 74 but had a par on the play off hole while PSA’s Jake Biltz had a 74 but ended up with a bogey on the final hole.
Joe Eaton finished fifth overall and second on the white squad with a seven over 79 and James Avampato tied for sixth overall and third on the team with an eight over par, 80. Mike Miller was fourth on the team with an 83 and Ian Umphrey was fifth with an 84.
FSU returns to action on September 12 at the Pitt-Greensburg Invitational.
