TOWSON, MD —
Freshman Amanda Griswold (Magruder/Rockville, Md.)
scored a goal and assisted on another to lead visiting Frostburg State to a 2-0 win over Goucher Saturday afternoon.
The Bobcats improved to 4-7, while the Gophers fell to 0-8.
Griswold put Frostburg State on the board with 21:02 left in the first half when she took a feed from sophomore Kim Smith (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) and found the net for her fourth goal of the year.
Sophomore Tawni Buck (Port Deposit, Md./Perryville) added an insurance goal — her team-high sixth tally of the year — with 7:12 toplay before halftime off an assist from Griswold.
That would be more than enough for Bobcat sophomore Kristin Cousin (Edgewater, Md./South River) and senior Jessica Moore (Bowie, Md./Culpeper (Va.)), who combined for the shutout.
Cousin made three saves in the first half to pick up the win before giving way to Moore, who stopped four shots in the second half.
The Bobcats held a 24-14 advantage in shots and a 22-11 edge in corners.
Frostburg State will go for its third straight win on Tuesday when it visits Juniata for a 4:00 pm match.
