— Senior Lindsay Hoffman (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson)
and freshman Amanda Drake (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill)
each scored two goals and added an assist, as Frostburg State defeated Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Hilbert 5-0, Saturday afternoon.
FSU improves to 5-5 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the conference, as they win their third-straight game, while Hilbert falls to 5-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the league.
Hoffman got FSU on the board 8:20 into the game when she netted her fourth goal of the season. Drake was credited with the assist.
A little over 16 minutes later, Drake netted her first goal of the game off a feed from freshman Kiley Williams (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) to give the visitors a 2-0 advantage.
Frostburg State dominated the first half, outshooting Hilbert, 11-2.
Drake gave the Bobcats a 3-0 edge, 2:20 in the second period with her second goal of the afternoon. Hoffman and freshman Lauren Lentine (Princeton, N.J./WWP North) were both credited with an assist.
At 64:37, Hoffman scored her second goal of the game to give FSU a 4-0 lead and just over three minutes later, Lentine scored the fifth and final goal of the game off a feed from sophomore Tori Walter (Frederick, Md./Frederick).
The Bobcats outshot the Hawks in the game, 17-6.
Freshman Stephanie Gwinn (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) recorded her fourth win of the season having to make just one save. Kelly Goodwin took the loss for Hilbert, making seven saves and allowing four goals.
The Bobcats return to action October 10, when they travel to AMCC opponent Penn State Altoona for a 5:00 pm game.
