Frostburg State University will start the holiday season with a spectacle-driven production of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” on Dec. 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m., with matinee performances on Dec. 5 and 11 at 2 p.m. The performances will be held in the Drama Theatre of the Performing Arts Center.
Adapted for the stage by Gerald Freedman, this seasonal favorite follows the ever-powerful Scrooge, a lonely and greedy miser, who, through the intervention of spirits from his past, present and future, finds a second chance to become a caring human being. In this imaginative production brought back from FSU’s 2009 season, Dickens’ London unfolds like a pop-up storybook, with singing voices and special effects. A holiday gift to experience again and again, “A Christmas Carol” will have your whole family caroling all the way home.
For reservations and information contact the Theatre and Dance Box Office at 301-687-7462 (Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m.). Tickets are $6 for students and $12 for the general public. Group discounts are available when booked in advance.
