Frostburg State pitcher Billye Hollister (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone)
added another post-season award to his list after being named a second-team all-american by the 2006 American Baseball Coaches Association.
Earlier this month, Hollister was named the ABCA Mid-Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Year and the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year.
The senior capped a stellar career for FSU posting a 10-1 record and one save in 15 appearances this spring. In 86.2 innings of work, he struckout 80 batters, had a 2.18 earned run average and threw two shutouts. He also limited opponents to a .198 batting average.
He finished the season ranked fourth in NCAA Division III in wins and 65th in ERA.
Hollister pitched 5.2 innings allowing just two runs, one earned, while striking out four to earn the win as the Bobcats downed Montclair State 6-2 in the opening round of the 2006 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Baseball Regional. The victory marked the first-ever NCAA Tournament win for FSU.
For his career, Hollister is 26-7 overall with 230 strikeouts and a 2.98 ERA.
"We are very proud of Billye’s all-american selection,” said Head Coach Chris McKnight. “He has been leader a for the pitching staff throughout his career and we wish him the best of luck as he pursues baseball at the next level.”
FSU finished the season with a 29-13 overall record.
