John Crawley, of the U.S. Olympic Committee Sports Performance Division, to Speak at FSU
John Crawley, who works for the U.S. Olympic Committee on issues involving team sports performance, will present two lectures at Frostburg State University on Feb. 21 and Feb. 22. Both programs are free and open to the public.

“From Pheidippides to Phelps: Reflections on Athletic Performance in the Modern Olympic Games” will be presented on Monday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. in the Leake Room of the Cordts Physical Education Center. “Citius, Altius, Fortius: It’s Not Every 4 Years … It’s Every Day” will be presented Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 9:30 a.m., also in the Leake Room.

Crawley is the high-performance director of team sports with the Sport Performance Division of the U.S. Olympic Committee in Chula Vista, Calif. He has worked for over 11 years in a variety of sport performance roles with the U.S. Olympic team, and has served with the U.S. delegations at the Olympic Games, Pan American Games and World Championships. He holds a level III Elite Coaching Certification from U.S. Triathlon, a level II Endurance Coaching Certification from U.S. Track and Field, as well as a level II Coaching Certification from U.S. Cycling.

The Wellner Scholar Program was created from an endowment from the FSU Foundation, Inc., to allow the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation to host a series of lectures by nationally acclaimed scholars. It was named for the late Lillian Wellner, a former FSU registrar and physical education instructor.
